    Started Boxing today!

I started Boxing today, thought I would give it a go to see what it is like because I love the sport and I must say... I thought it would be very intense but it is a lot more intense than what I thought it would be, I enjoyed every minute of it though... and I think I will pick it up as a go along and get a lot fitter. Was really good... I liked it!

Does anyone else go boxing, and for how long? Also how did you find your first time training?

Yeah, I mean with it being my first time I found it hard work... but I still enjoyed it immensely, the hard work just makes me want to keep going every week to break the barrier if you know what I mean.

It has helped me calm down a lot more and my adhd isn't as hard to control.

... I am just going to keep working hard at it... no one can ask more than your best, we learned how to throw an uppercut today... it was pretty good, I struggled to get used to moving my legs properly at first but I got better as I went along... nobody is perfect straight away its about a learning process.

I am planning to stick to it... I really enjoyed it!

You will get better no doubt. How old are ya? It is hard when ya start but keep at it and you will be addicted. Best decision of my life so far to start boxing helped me with so much.

I am 17, and about 5'3"... so kinda small for my age. It wasn't really the moving the legs that was the problem... it was because I was putting too much leverage into my arms when throwing the punch... and they told me to let my legs do most of the work.

Yeah hopefully I will... practice makes perfect, the more I go the further my limits will be. The exorcises were very intense... I haven't really done much sporting activity for a while so I struggled a bit (I am not fat... just not quite in brilliant shape yet) so I was tensing some muscles that I have never used before... but nevertheless the workout itself gave me a rush.

I am glad to see Boxing has done you the world of good, many people say because of boxing they stayed motivated and calm... which is always good, hopefully it can make the same effect to be as it has you (decision wise).

I think most people enjoy their first day of boxing training. Probably even the first few weeks.

After a while, when the physical and mental stress begins to catch up with you, you really start to think whether the sport is for you. Always sticking to a good diet, putting your body through hell every session, sacrificing time with friends to train, etc. If you are still regularly going to a gym in a few months, then this is the sport for you. If not, then at least you know not to waste your time.

This sport is unlike all other sports, and thus isn't for everybody.

Don't want this to demotivate you or anything, but I just wanted to say that almost everyone that goes to the gym enjoys it because it busts your ass and you feel great afterwards.

Good luck and stick with it.

Yeah I understand... even if I decided not to do it any more or decided to take a small break from it (which I am not considering at the moment), I would still love Boxing nevertheless!

Good stuff! But I wana hear you say this after you sparred. Its all fun and games till you get hit trust me. I thought of boxing as a sport you play untill I started sparring and realized that you cant play boxing and its not all fun and games.
