i like to go on the heavybag a couple of times a week. im not an amateur or anything but i enjoy boxing, i used to use a pair of 14oz BBE gloves.

however lately they've really started to annoy me, im barely 5 minutes in and i begin to feel it on my knuckles. i think the padding in them is way too thin even when i wear 2 sets of wraps!!

to me 14oz were the perfect size, they were okay for the bag and weren't too big for the mitts or sparring.

im wondering if someone can recommend a certain company or typle of glove, i hear that lonsdale make good gloves, but does anyone have any experience with everlast, adidas or reebok?

im willing to spend up to ?0.

50 euro is what like 70 us or something. If that is what your looking at then try out some title gel world or title platinum. Quality glove for a cheaper price. If you are looking to go up in the 100s us then i could recomend alot more.

Also stay away from those 30 us dollar everlast gloves, the padding, support, just about everything is terrible about those gloves. Something to remember with gloves is that you get what you pay for. ill follow with some links.








again its up to you, if you want a multi purpose training then go for training glove. if its just specific bag work go for a bag glove, if you search on google you can find reviews of these gloves and the differences between gloves.

If the 14oz are are giving you trouble, try the 16oz. Along with putting a piece of sponge on your knuckles.

Another reason why it might hurt is the technique. Sometimes if your hands hurt you could be punching wrong. You want to hit with the first two knuckles.

Do NOT go up in size just because your 14 oz. now hurt, it's got **** all to do with your glove size, that's bad advice. If when you first got your 14s they were the perfect size, that's because they are. The 'rule' usually is - 16s sparring, 14s bag work, 10s fight. Sometimes the big guys use 16s because it wont effect them and it will help them out, they don't need them to protect their knuckles. What's happened to your gloves is prob exactly what happened to mine, they "died". All that means is you've used them to their limit and the foam inside has broken down. The last 2 training sessions for me have been agony for my backhand, the foam broke down where my knuckle is and by about round 4/10 on the bags it really hurt, so I had to go shopping for some gloves with a ?0 budget. Here's what I came out with;

Good deals going around with Lonsdale at the moment but think fast because Lonsdale gloves are getting hard to find.

Lonsdale Authentic Range - Good gloves, were roughly ?5 been reduced to around ?5.

Lonsdale Super Pro Sparring Gloves (ones I just bought) - Very good gloves, were roughly ?0, been reduced to about ?0.

If you choose to order from the first site RING THEM UP and ask them are they IN STOCK because I was about to order some from Sugar Rays, my dad told me always to ring up and check they have them in stock because he's been stung numerous times. So I rang up, bugger me, they were out of stock and Lonsdale are hard to get hold of and thus if I had of ordered them I wouldn't have got them for months! Nice of them to tell me, so Sugar Rays wont ever be receiving my business. This happened to about 3 shops I found on the internet, none had them in stock. Didn't try Lonsdale UK, so don't know if they do. I got my pair from the second link, that website promises that anything that is out of stock is marked on the website as such, right now it says 14 oz. are in stock but I know that must be his last pair because he told me on the phone he had 2 pairs left, then I bought one. I recommend the 2nd link simply because I used it and got my delivery next day.

But yeah, go for those I think.

Everlast I haven't tried but I assume they're the same as Lonsdale, good when you spend about ?0, **** before that.

Addidas, supposedly alright but from what I saw most gloves tend to be PU not leather and alot of them tend to come in 10 oz. only, despite not being competition gloves. Reebok, I always took them as a 'boxercise' boxing make, I know they aren't but I get the impression most of their gloves are the cheap alternative for those who aren't really going to be punishing the bag. This being said, in my gym I know one person who has 10 oz. Addidas gloves and he likes them, and I know someone who's very good and has reebok ones, don't know if that's because he couldn't be bothered to spend more or if he is endorsing them. But I would say go for a different make because I just get a bad air from them, I just don't associate them with good gloves, I associate them with exercise gloves with a jacked up price because they appeal to the non-boxing people aswell (as addidas and reebok are well known credit sports makes outside of boxing)
