Basically, Altho i love boxing, I do kyokushin, but in terms of footwork and movement the two are pretty similar, the only difference being you dont tuck your chin in in kyokushin when you're in your fighting stance and keep your hands out further to stop kicks.
What i was wondering though is I am right handed in everything I do, I only use my left hand for the knifehand when eating dinner.
I'm taught to fight in orthodox stance as most right handers are. However, I find myself so much more comfy fighting in a southpaw stance. My defence is better, I have more flexibility in coming in to attack. However I sacrifice power. i have a great jab with my right hand but as my right hand is more powerful my left just isnt as good a finisher as my right would be.
What i want to know is, does anyone else have this or know anyone who fights like this? Also would it be worth getting trained to fight in both stances like a switch hitter?
My teacher has no problem teaching it, but it basically means every drill we do i would have to do twice, which i dont mind but I would want it to make a difference, otherwise I would just try and stick to one stance.
