I worked out for nearly a year before i got my first amateur bout
the gym i worked out at is very serious about competion and dont just throw u in there like most other gyms. I won by the way 3 round knockdown with a combo l hook /straight right/ l hook/ straight right /l hook and then dropped him with the straight right man i felt great afterwords because he won the first round i won the second and then of course i finished him out

well...it's obvious why you won....and i don't mean that in a bad way....that training must've paid off...
I hope to do the same and not get thrown in the ring early..I wanna be prepared
My first amateur (Kickboxing) bout was after 2 months of training, I had been active in Boxing and Jiu Jitsu (Though Jiu Jitsu didn't help in this case) for a while beforehand but never took either seriously. I won via TKO R1, Orthodox - Left Jab, Left hook to the body and right leg kick, swept him.
In between amateur bouts I train anywhere from 5 - 8 Months depending on where and when they take place, though I've been inactive for the past half of the year.
