I had a stress fracture in my right shin last year, and my doctor told me to take 1-2 months off from jumping rope to let it heal, so I did.
When I came back into the boxing gym and began jumping rope on a regular basis again, the pain from the stress fracture started coming back. Yesterday I skipped rope for 20 minutes and the pain was very bad when I was done, but I continued to train. The shin still hurts today (Saturday night), but not nearly as much as it did yesterday immediately after skipping rope.
My question is whether there are really negative effects from training through a stress fracture? Can I make it much worse from continuing to jump on it. The problem is that I don't want this to become one of those injuries that if I work through it, will only get worse to the point where I can no longer train at all with it. And, since I recently started going to the boxing gym again on a regular basis, I don't want to stop skipping rope again for such an extended period of time (especially when the rest didn't really help me last time). Should I just train through the pain, or see a doctor again?
