    Too much training?

Is there such a thing as "too much training?" I usually take one maybe two days off of the solid week to allow my body to rest.

But because i'm so paranoid about my age (26) i think everyday i don't train, i lose something.

Is it okay to take a day or two off to let your body heal? Will you lose anything?

Do you think training 6 out of the 7 days is excessive?

I spend about 2 hours each day i train...after 8 hours of work and 1 1/2 hours of commute....not to mention when school starts i gotta incorporate that into my training schedule.

    What do you guys think?

Yeah some fighters have 'over trained' and then when do fight they feel fatigued becuase they have over trained there body. Your body does need rest at least once a week, rest is very important and just remember on the day of rest just eat healthy and sleep is also important.

6 out of 7 is ok as long as you do it smart. Try the hi-lo principle. Say monday you go hard then do something a little lighter the next day then go hard again. I train 6-7 days a week and I feel fine by doing this.

You won't lose anything just by taking one or two days rest. For things like strength/cardio training the guidline I've always heard was you will start seeing decreases after 7-10 days off. For skill related training I'm not sure. Guess everyone is different.

One or two days off a week is perfect to allow your body to recover. You can also do "active rest". So say you train hard monday through friday. Saturday you just do some light running and stretching and then sunday you rest completely. Or you can switch it up for whatever days suit you best (train hard monday and tuesday, active rest on wednesday, train hard thursday, friday, saturday and then rest on sunday).

If you have one day during the week when you are busier or you don't want to spend your Friday night at the gym, then make that your active rest day.
