How do People/Friends react on you being or training as a boxer?

I told three of my friends that they should take up boxing since i do, and all of a sudden half of the high school knows, now people start treating me with respect and act differently with me. I don't deserve any of this crap, i just told my friends its an excellent workout, and now i get this, not to mention that i'm smaller compared to the majority of all the people i know. I'm getting fed up now because everytime i talk to my friends, someone would pop out of nowhere and say "WAtch out he's a boxer!!"

Has anyone treated you differently because of this? and how do you feel?

People are just scared of me now. I always walked around in school with a serious face, and when word got out that I've been going to the boxing gym, NO ONE approaches me anymore that doesn't know me.

My friends respect me more, and others just want to copy what I do. That gets annoying.

yep i get the same treatment...its awesome lol and its even better because most know **** all about boxing so even though ive only had three fights and arent that great yet or experienced they all still think im top **** lol they know nothing

but the endless questions start to piss me off:

"have you ever been knocked out" is pretty common

"could you like kill us all in a streetfight" is also popular

and people respect you more and dont give you ****, and they back off once you get angry.........this kid annoyed me so i punched him in the nose and i swear none of his friends even looked at me for a week...even though i only hit him once and his nose didnt break or anything, just bled a bit

That's why I don't want anybody to watch any of my fights. I started boxing because I wanted it, and I don't want anybody's compliments or criticism, apart from my trainer and the knowledgeable posters on boxingscene.

I train for myself, and I fight for myself.

ya ur right, most ppl are jealous and try to take it up, but once they step up in the ring, one punch can change everything, and they may never step back in.

now i kind of learned, but i'd rather stay modest, cuz if i ever lose in a street fight, ppl will think i'm fake. And to tell you, i've only sparred, and haven't stepped to the amateurs just YET. But boxings a really ****ing hard sport,

its different, i mean you cant be ****y, like basketball or soccer.

i was glad to get out of high school for that exact ****. anytime anyone mentioned my name somebody would chime in 'oh, you mean the boxer?' i never got any respect for it until some friends got a good beer buzz going and decided that they could quote "smash my ass" after that i got a lot more respect from people. it still pisses me off though, that just because i box, and haven't even had a fight yet, i'm some how a person that's just better left alone. a few months after the back yard buzz kill, almost no one at my highschool would talk to me. i was alienated because of my sport.

                yea i get that

Im sure you guys get the famous line

                "I used to box"

Everyone feels like they have to match my toughness or something its really annoying and i never really tell anyone i do unless it comes up

Yeah, I get respect no doubt, I used to be more of a geek-ish type kid, got into boxing, now everyone wants to roll with me. But then, there's the ****y ass kids of the school that talk trash 'cause they think they can take you so you get alot of **** also. People only know me as the "boxer", nothing more, nothing less.

Lol, i remember when **** like that use to happen at school. The best thing to do is do not say anything and just concentrate on your boxing. If you turn out to be good in the am's, word will spread and you will get it again! Hopefully by then you'll be able to deal with the interviews yeah.
