    At a boxing club

    - Can you go in and just do what you want? ie. smash the bag, do the speedbag...or is it all taken in classes?

    - Do they ask you to hit the bag on your first session, like i've heard some people say the first thing they'll day is 'go other and hit that bag son' If this is true, any tips?

    - How long will i have to wait to spar/fight? I'm gonna train flat out

    1) If theres a boxing lesson going on, then the coachs will tell you to do something specific. However if theres no coachs about, or just before the lesson, I like to hit the bag or use the jump rope etc.
    2) If you're new to boxing, then tell them. They will show you the basics, moving about, punching and parrying etc. Once thats sorted, they'll try and improve you by using the punch bag and pads etc.
    3) I had my first spar after 3 weeks, if you wanna fight then tell them, and they can hook you up.

I wouldn't bother with boxing gyms if I were you. It's full of young wankers who think they're hard and spend their time talking about how hard they are. Try to join a community health club, the trainers are better and it's a nice family environment. Plus, sparring is not allowed which will increase your confidence for your real fights. I'm training with a tae kwon doe master which is better than the bums at boxing clubs/

hmm I've always wanted to try a boxing club just to mix up my regular work out routine, and see what it's like.

but good point as I believe most Health Clubs are or planning to offer some kind of combat training.

Have you been to a boxing gym before or ever boxed competitively? Sure, you get some people who go and think there tough **** cause they box, but I would go as far to say a pretty high percentage of people who box competitively are very humble and are willing to help out people how are new. To the OP, you should just go and see what happens or go talk to the trainer before you even sign up. I know you probably want to know exactly what you are gonna have to do, but it varies from club to club. You should just go and someone will teach you the basics and you'll learn just from seeing other people what you should do.

All 3 will vary from club to club and coach to coach. Like any other sport, everyone has their own way.

Just concentrate on learning how to box.

4 people, what a joke!!! The gym I am at now is like half class half do wtf you like. We do circuits together and warm up together but its not compul;sory. Alot of the bums don't do the circuits.
