    Springing/Leaping Shots

Hi, im about 5'5-5'6, a southpaw and i have amazing speed (so ive been told by the all da trainers in da gym n my sparring partners), but cos of my height i sum tyms hav trouble gettin up close to land a shots with my lead hand.

My trainer tells me that im best when fighting on the outside. However, landing a straight left to the body is no problem for me, n im great at throwing counter straight lefts over the top, but i dnt want 2 bcum left hand dependent lyk judah. so i was wunderin if u guys could tell me exactly wot mucles are needed for springing shots lyk a leaping lead hook, or darting in with a jab, and what exercises i can do to increase those muscles.

i have no problem leaping in with shots with my left hand and getting out of the way, but the right hand presents a few more problems.

    what can i do???

if you're having trouble hitting because of your height, lose weight. you should just fight normally to start with.. being a southpaw is a massive advantage in itself

if you're trying to make up for being shorter by lunging, you should just lose weight, it's the better option

What you need to do is learn about distance. Practice this on the double end bag.

Stay far on the outside, too far to be reached. The opponent will have to come forward a little. When he does, rush in there with a combination..

                Thanks Man!

dats helps alot, try da double bag n try to jus counter while moving back.

                safe

                i'll try it

There is no need to leap, unless you are being trained a flawed style by Brendan Ingle. It's mechanically wrong and just silly. Most inexperienced people who do it get caught out.

losing weight might be a thought, but if you're naturally muscular it could be useless trying to get rid of the flab etc.

Move your head, slip, duck, side step and get on the inside. Work the body. It's pretty standard moves for a shorter fighter.
