    First Fight

Had my first fight yesterday at 152. I ve been training for a year prior to this bout so I was going in pretty confident. I was treating it like another day in the office so I wasnt nervous at all. The way I see it, the damage this guy can dish out is the same that I can so why be afraid, right? Needless to say I lost the bout on points, kid couldn't hurt me and didnt "score" really. A lot of his punches were landing on the gloves and on my arms. But, on the contrary he got points because he was more active although I was the aggressor, which was a change for me. Come to find out at the end of the bout, this kid who was said to have only one fight that he lost, actually had 17 fights 15 of which he won. Everyone screwed up here, no one checked the books, just took the word of the other gyms! So, really, the kid should have dismantled me, but couldnt, had some flurries but again none of them damaging, just "scoring". I think I learned more in the lost than I would have in a win against someone with the same amount of experience as me... Im wondering if any of you have some advice on how to get inside on a taller opponent. This was my big problem, I had to be the aggressor in this fight which Im not use to being. Threw me off a little, but a great experience. What techniques can I use to get in close with a person who has the reach advantage so I can score inside?

    Thanks in advance.
