Help me progress as a trainer

My school's boxing club is an officially registered club with USA Boxing, and this year we want to make it really good, compete with other schools, travel to other schools to spar, etc. I'm an assistant trainer, as in I'll be doing mitt work with people, setting up cardio workouts, giving tips, etc.

Since I've been following boxing I've always had a much larger appreciation for the craft and guile of the sport than anything else. I always watch the countdown and 24/7 shows, and especially with the training aspect I'll try to pick up things, especially combos on the mitts.

If anybody has great combos, cardio workouts they know, or anything that will help me to be a better, more rounded overall trainer to better help those who are just starting out, please let me know.

This video is of a prospect named Adrian Gonzalez, who now trains with Floyd Sr., hitting the mitts with Roger. If anybody can catch the combos they're using really quick and write em down, let me know, I just woke up and am in no mood to watch this **** over and over to get everything down haha.

Appreciate the help guys, and if anybody is around UMass Amherst in the fall, come through the boxing club!

    Here is my Advice.

Never get angry with people when the do the exercise wrong. A bit of patients is important. Shouting at someone to get it right will only discourage them. If someone is new welcome them and maybe have a one on one showing there stance and guard.

Fitness or technique? My advice would be to have different sessions/days were you teach the boxers different thing. I go to a box fit class were all it is, is fitness. Now most of them could keep u fitness wise with people from a proper boxing club if in a bout they would not stand a chance and there technique isn’t there.

On technique: It important to show people how to throw a jab correctly. Make sure there feet are right, not square on to the bag or other boxer who they are doing the exercise to, that there shoulder is covering there chin and so on. What we sometimes do in out gym is get in pars then demonstrating in front to the class and they point out what we are doing wrong.

On fitness: A good running exercise we d oat out gym is a thing called 5x5 or 4x4. were you sprint down the length of a football pitch 5 times then jog back. So sprint, jog back, spring jog back 5 times. Then have a 1 minuet rest in-between. So you do 5 sprints and jogs again until you do it 5 times. Try to keep things fresh. Don’t do the same old exercise all the time as it gets boring.

Is a fighter ready for a bout? Don’t let them fight if the are not fit or the technique is up to scratch. Oh and never take a bribe for on of your boxers to fight someone a lot better than him.

Forget what combos that guy is doing. As a coach you need to develop your own theory of boxing through experience. Then you can do padwork and combos tailored to your style of teaching!
