jab right cross

I always thought i was supposed to aim for the exact same spot on the heavybag for 1-2 jab right cross combination however since looking at the teddy atlas number system this would suggest otherwise,So which is the correct way,can anyone explain?

Targets (ie heads) move so it is not illogical to hit the bag in a different spot for a straight left and right. I think both methods are right. Think of the floor to ceiling ball, difficult to hit with a straight left right if you are punching in the same place. But sometimes the opponents head wont move much after the jab so you can aim the right hand at the same place. All depends... you need lighting reflexes and the ability to predict and place your punches where the target will be in those splits seconds... watch Shawns videos for expert demonstration (LOL)

hey, i tried explaining this in your other thread, but i guess you didn't see my post.

those are the cus d'amato numbers:

1- left hook
2- straight right
3- left uppercut
4- right uppercut
5- left to the body
6- straight right to the body
7- jab
8- right to the body
9- jab to the body
10- overhand/looping right

so the visual on that bag is kind of misleading. you can throw a 2 wherever you want.

I actually am a golf expert, my excellent right uppercut comes from my golf swing. Been playing since I was 4, and I do have amateur pedigree in both golf and boxing. I have a rack full of trophies to prove it.

Shawn I was being sarcastic. I watched your video and although you have potential and occasionally threw some nice shots, you are NOT at the level where you should be giving much advice but should be listening to and learning from others more experienced than you.

Hanging your left like an elephants trunk while you spar is lazy and arrogant, you are teaching Luke a bad habit as he also does this in your one on one shadow boxing demo. You need to be very good to think about doing this, and to know when you can get away with it - again, you are NOT at this level. Your footwork is also atrocious - moving only in one direcion, crossing feet etc.

If you want to improve spar someone much better than you who can teach you a thing or two. Hopefully without hurting you too much they can punish you for that ****y and ineffective way you try to look experienced but are not by hanging that left down.

You have potential keep working on it by try to keep your mouth closed a little more and ears open.
