    Pull-ups and grip

I've been noticing lately that when I do pull-ups, I tend to lose grip on the last repetitions, and it causes me to basically slip off the bar.

My questions is whether exercises like squeezing a stress ball, or one of those special grip handles would help to develop my grip, and eventually my pullups numbers. Most of the time I have to stop doing the repetitions because of lack of grip, not necessarily lack of strength in my arms.

Anybody have any experience with this?

      ned,
I didn't get your post. What are farmers walks?

I don't use straps...just the bar and my bare hands.

Farmer's walks come from pushing a wheelbarrow, but are more like carrying a heavy suitcase in each hand. Basically you get the heaviest dumbell you can hold in each hand and just walk back and forth. It'll work your shoulders, your grip, your core, and your legs.

High rep deadlifts do a number on my grip as well.

Yeah I agree with the pork. Anything that involves you having to hold out very heavy weight for long periods will strengthen your grip. Deadlifts are great and most dumbell exercises that involve holding it down and bring it up. You can try that farmer walk if you got room. In my gym I can't. :/

if your losing grip, then the lack of strength lies in your forearms/wrists. Once you get those strengthened the problem will get less noticeable and will eventually disappear. Also to help with this, make a fist around the bar so your thumb locks in your 4 fingers.
