Yesterday we sparred again. I was more tired than ever and i think it was because I was crashing because I had some caffeine before training, because I had less than 4 hours of sleep the night before and felt too sleepy. Anyway, I ******. I'd try to keep technique in mind, so I concentrated in throwing good punches, but the guy would just take this small delay to his advantage and he'd close in, I'd throw a jab to keep him off and regain my breath, but he'd just get through it and put his hand on my face, so I'd try to duck underneath and hit him, but he either dodged me, or I just couldn't muster enough power to make any damage (this is probably about technique... I need to work a lot on that).
He wasn't really supposed to hit us back, but he did kinda throw some shots, more to me than anyone else, although I doubt they were full power cause the guy was ****in huge (he's a seasoned boxing too, he's been training for like 20 years and he's only like 27, dunno how long he's been fighting tho). I didn't care, though, cause I took it as motivation, I guess I wasn't being aggressive enough, but then again, I was so damn tired. It was everything, man. All my fault, though. Now I'm pissed. I know I've only been training for 3 weeks, but goddamnit, man, I want to at least put up a fight next time. I felt like in the corners I was hitting him like a sissy. Footwork, defense, power, technique... it all went to **** that day, man, especially because trying to be conscious about it would kinda delay me and he'd just take the opportunity to close in. We don't spar THAT often, man. I wish we could, because I feel like hitting the bag is different from hitting the pads which is even way different from hitting another person who's there to push you and even hits you back.
Any pointers or anything I can do in preparation for next time?
