My super first post ought to be introductional yet still i need to ask a "few" questions.
I come from Norway. A country that has put a ban to professional boxing and Amateur boxing barely hung on and managed to survive.
I quit playing soccer after it started to get seriously besides that i was to rough around the edges. Thus i ended up sitting on my ass playing cometitive computer games like CS, Quake, Unreal, starcraft, warcraft 3 etc.etc while brawling in the streets of my hometown to feed my thirst for competition.
January this year i simply had enough and started taking martial art classes twice a week. I also started dieting and working out after some research.
The dojo i whent to had an hour of boxing sessions with a retired amateur boxer every thursday and these lessons got me hungry for more. I never wanted to grade myself or get different belt colours I WANTED A FRIKKEN COOL BELT THAT SAID IM THE BEST! GO ME !!;D
thats basically when i figured out that Norway has outlawed proboxing <,< Im gonna take my chances when the amateur club reqruits again in august with renewed motivation.
Basically ive got til august to get in shape and ready. Ive cut all ties to candy, sweet drinks and alcohol and already gone down 10 kg. Im 1.76 metres tall, have a reach on around 55 cm, currently residing at 83 Kg trying to diet myself down to 79 Kg so i can compete in light heavyweight or get even lower.
ok Now for the Questions.
I have a standard 1hour workout 3 times aday 3 days a week designed shape me even further up. aswell as a workout i found doing weighted punching sets consisting of uppers, hooks, knuckled pushups and straight punching due to the lack of heavybag / regular boxing training.
Would this and alot of running get me in shape for august or do you have other suggestions?
should i aim to drop even more weight to fight in the middeweights ? Would that be better for a guy at my height even with my slow methabolism?
I considered myself orthodox style but i often find myself going Southpaw (old streetfighting style)
During the limited times i can practice boxing i ve had the coach commenting on it saying ill be knocked out if i did it during a fight.
Is switchhitting really that hard during a real boxing fight?
Would it serve any real purpose? Or should i stop rebelling with my own streetlearned style and stick with orthodox=?
should i get any suplements other than the standard vitamin/amino acid pill aday?
No i cant get into a real boxing gym untill august. Ive considered moving to another country to continue boxing since Proboxing is illegal but that will have to wait til after i am done in the navy. <,<
