    Take your supplements!

For those of you who think taking multiple supplements doesn't do anything/is a waste of money: you're wrong. Although this study was funded by the Shaklee Corp. (a supplement manufacturer), it was conducted by a legit university (UC Berkely). It shows that long-term multiple supplement users were significantly more healthy and less prone to disease than those who take just a multivitamin or no supplements at all. So to all you people who come into threads saying supps are for ******* or are unnecessary, etc.: STFU and read.

    A summary from pubmed:

The full report for you voracious readers:

I have taken supplements with mixed results.

When I was younger I took creatine and amino acids.I bceame bigger and my fitness levels were just so high.Problem is I lost definition.

I took V12,a decision I regret because I became a lot bigger and shedding off weight is a problem.I had joined the bandwagon which is against supplements.

Recently I heard Zab judah talking about flaxseed oil.I tried it.I normally jog some mornings before work. After 3 days of flaxseed oil,I have greatly improved my speed and endurance.

What I need is to lose weight but remaining mascular.

It depends on the supplements, There's millions of them. Some can be EXTREMELY dangerous. Even more do nothing at all.

I'm gonna read this report in full tomorrow, but I quickly skimmed: it looks like the "supps" they gave the subjects were almost all vitamins:

"Dietary supplements consumed on a daily basis by more than 50% of Multiple Supp users included a multivitamin/mineral, B-complex, vitamin C, carotenoids, vitamin E, calcium with vitamin D, omega-3 fatty acids, flavonoids, lecithin, alfalfa, coenzyme Q10 with resveratrol, glucosamine, and a herbal immune supplement. The majority of women also consumed gamma linolenic acid and a probiotic supplement, whereas men also consumed zinc, garlic, saw palmetto, and a soy protein supplement. Serum nutrient concentrations generally increased with increasing dietary supplement use."
