Just purchase a set of 12 oz gloves... you'll use them for heavy bag work and sparring.

      for sparring??

you should get a good pair of 12-14oz super bag gloves

and a pair of 16oz training gloves for sparring

never use bag gloves for sparring
maybe 12oz training gloves, for light sparring.

but never bag gloves for sparring at all.

my view is the bigger the better, y? because the more weight on your hands the more endurance you develop to the weight of the glove (even though it isn't much) and the more padding the less you hurt your hands. then come fight night and your wearing 8's or 10's you will work a lot better having been accustomed to wearing 14-16 and your hands won't tire from having the gloves on as quickly.

Yes, I have always sparred with 12 oz gloves. I like to train like a I fight. The dynamics between 16 and 12oz gloves are huge...

Thats not very curtious towards your sparring partner. Why would you want to put more hurt on someone from your gym who's helping you out...sparring is a mutual thing. Also i found it helps with handspeed training with heavier gloves.

I prefer to practice parrying with the smaller 12oz gloves... I don't like the false sense of protection 16oz offers. It's not like I take advantage of my sparring partners, I pull punches as I see fit. You can be a jerk with 16oz gloves just the same as 12s if you want.

that is true but arent you taking more of a risk for hand injury constantly using the smaller glove less padded glove?
