    Speed Bag Question

    Hello,

I am interested in getting a speed bag set-up for my basement. Can anyone recomend a basic set-up that will work well? I have seen some that are around 50 bucks, but I dont know if they are junk. It will just be me that will be using it, and I will be mounting it to the studs in the wall which are like 16 inches apart I believe. Any thoughts?

    Thank you,

    D.

Yo go to Craigslist.org, click on your home town and you'd be surprised how much stuff people are practically giving away! I got me a bunch of tools from this dude that was moving to another state. Anyway, you can find a bargin there and even negociate the price. play around with a used set, Everlast, G&S, B.U.M., they make good equipment, and pound on that, ride it till the wheels falls off!! When you step it up, "THEN" get a real good set.

I can advise you with this much. If you're going to put a speed bag in your house do NOT attach it to the ceiling or wall. Get it on a freestanding type of platform, this will probably cost you a little more. If you attach bags (especially a speed bag) in your house every time you hit it you will probably rattle the floor above you and the walls. This is extraordinarily annoying to the people you live with =\ Also if you're a home owner you run the risk of unsettling some of your framework if you use the bag frequently enough. Not unsettling the house mind you, but if you're in an older home (as I was) you will expose many many creaks and loose points in the woodwork.
