Had my first sparring matches today. I'm knackered as **** and can barely move. I did eight round, with three people and surprisingly didn't fall over, but by the 6th round I was tired as **** and could barely punch. Somehow in the 7th and 8th I pulled some power out and started to hit back, suprsing him a bit, then he went a level higher and nearly made me puke. I got out of it tired and beaten, but I enjoyed every moment of it and learned a lot out it.

dude 8 rounds is a lot especially for ur first sparring session. I wouldn't keep sparring through the later rounds if ur tired and getting beat up. Personally I'd rather spar many times through the week in shorter sessions rather than wearing myself out in a single session. Sounds like u got the mental part down though, u know ur cut out for the sport if thats ur feelings afterwards

I fought someone who is number two in the nation and two other blokes who have more experience. I thought 8 rounds was ****ing weird but it went into a blur at one point, but once I finished my trainer told me I had done 8 rounds and I was a amazed.

This cant be true for a few reasons, the first time i sparred i did three rounds i remember with a guy who just just pawing jabs at me he was very experianced i think i may of hit him one time in three rounds, but god i was tired. Years later im the experianced guy working with beginers i have prolly sparred with 50 people whos first time sparring was with me, i just throw very soft jabs at them to the top of the headgear not even in their face, i have never had anyone go past 4 rounds. We are talking 3 minute rounds here right? because you did 24 minutes of sparring your first time and you said your overweight. Either your sparring wasnt very mobile or there was only 5 punches thrown per round, i just dont see this possible, i have been involved in the sport for a while, this is very odd maybe your one of about .0000000000001% of people who can do this their first time sparring i dont know. I mean i have sparred these 2 guys who were both wrestlers prior to sparring and they couldnt even go 3 rounds i remember.

A feel for what kind of a match lol amatuers are only 3 or 4 rounds long depending if your novice or open, 3 is the number he should of had you do if he wants you to feel what a match is like somewhat, he must not no **** like half of the coaches out there.
