it doesnt matter bout time, it matters about quality. workout every day, hard days and light days, do cardio, eat right, and it will take as long as it takes, aint no shortcuts to get in shape buddy, unless ur tryin to juice...

For the upper body, I'd suggest body weight exercises such as press ups, sit ups, chin ups and tricep dips. Using weights i'd suggest shoulder raises, bicep curls and dumb bell rows.

Unfortunately training does take time, so you'll have to multi task or make time, try doing weights when you're watching TV or something
      .
      Good Luck.

Edit: In regard to time, anything from 12 weeks onwards. Im referring to army basic training.

you gotta train your legs son. one you'll look ****** if you have a big upper body and ***** ass chicken legs and two you'll get more gains with your upper body if you train your lower and core as well.

Depending on your background it takes many months or years to achieve boxing shape. Traditionally boxers have done pushups on their fingers and knuckles. Weight training has not proven to be an effective way of training boxers. If you have talent you can go a long way training yourself in your own back yard, but to go to the next level you will have to find a proper boxing trainer.
