    Can no longer box!! :(

Seen a specialist consultant at the hospital and he says its time to get another sport. My Joints are very lax and my left shoulder dislocates and goes back into position when throwing a left hook. This can be very dangerous for the long term.

I was told not to do any press ups or exercise that made use of my upper body until physio therapy starts.

I can throw a really good jab and then right hand perfectly but the left hook sticks and hurts allot when it dislocates. I could switch hit, my right hook is less sticky and is powerful.

    suggestions? advice?

what about joint supplements? do they work?

          I agree.

It is always good practice to get another opinion. It does not mean the first doctor does not know what they are talking about, it only means that medical opinions naturally vary.

But ultimately, you have to listen to what your body is telling you. Pain is your body's way of telling you something is wrong and you need to stop doing what it is that's causing it. If you have to start vastly altering the way you box, or try to fight through the pain, you could be setting yourself up for a serious life-long injury.

If you do have to quit there are a lot of ways to stay involved in this great sport and also low impact ways to keep in shape. I wish you the best.

Get a second opinion, see a sports therapist, chiropractor, holistic medicine doc. If this is what you want to do (box) than you cannot be defeated!

Even if it kills you trying?!?!

If the doctor says call it a day, then its time to hang up your gloves. Like the other posters have said... you can still be a part of the scene and a part of the club- start coaching or take a course in refereeing e.t.c.

Don't do anything you're gunna regret, ignoring your doc might enter you into a world of pain later down the line.

i was just saying get a second and third opinion. I dont want to see the guiy destroy himself but docs can be wrong especially the pill pushing quacks of our day and age.

The worst thing is.. that my problem is natural. meaning i had this problem "Lax Joints" from birth.. and my lil bro has the same movement in his shoulder.

this sucks.. ima try and build muscle to make the shoulder strong.. and then ill see if i go back boxing.. maybe ill never throw the left hook again.
