    Newbie at becoming a newbie

Hey, I am only 15 years old and will be turning 16 this month. I want to start boxing, but not sure how. I've looked around the forum and thought maybe I should check out a local boxing gym.

But what exactly do I do when I get there? Do I walk around and watch like a complete idiot? What can I expect when I just walk in there?

I can't say I am totally serious about starting to boxing. I really do want to start, but I know I am young and can take my time. I don't want to force myself and like start sparring my first day. I know that I can never be too young to start.

    Please don't flame me, lol.

Call first. Tell whoever answers the phone your name. Show up when you tell them you're going to show up. Shake hands, & they'll take it from there. They do this all the time.

    Good luck.

When you walk in the gym use your eyes and your ears. How many guys have broken noses? How many guys have scar tissue on their faces? How many guys are easy to hit when they spar? How much emphasis they do put on defensive skills? Are the guys in there talking about squats and curls or pivots and spins? How many Golden Glove champions have come out of that gym? What is the trainer's background? These are just some of the questions that you might want answered.

I would walk in and introduce yourself. The people at the front desk deal with people like you all the time. Your not the only one and you have to start somewhere.
