Anyone who makes fun of Morales, is disrespecting the sport of boxing. If American's had Ali as their boxing icon, Mexico has Erik Morales.

He is highly regarded by all nations who have boxing as a major sport. Even the Philippines, before Manny Pacquiao became popular, knew who Erik Morales was.

Tonight, I've been reading some rather disrespectful posts about Morales. I'm sad for you because you have no clue about how illustrious his career has been. He made boxing exciting. He's been in several classic brawls that will be viewed over and over again several years from now. He will be compared to fighters who aren't even born yet. Erik Morales has been one of the greatest assets to the sport of boxing.

If you can't respect him, then you need to be banned from this site.

You're still a great champion in my list Eric Morales. Keep your head up high because your name will stay in the annals of boxing forever.

I obviously respect him as a fighter, but on Saturday night he contridicted his entire career by quitting in the ring. The self proclaimed warrior filled with mexican pride quit on the spot.
It was shocking to me, and im dissapointed.

Like I said, Morales owes nothing to anyone. In fact, boxing owes a lot to Erik Morales.

When Morales stepped into the post fight conference, he got an emotional standing ovation from all of the international press. He will be remembered for being one of the fiercest boxers of all time.

I had never seen an Erik Morales fight until I watched this one with Pacman, but I have to say that the guy is a warrior. I expected him to play it safe after the second knockdown, but he seriously tried to win it right then. I dont take anything away from a guy who conceeds that the other guy is better when there's nothing left in the tank. There's a difference between boxing smart and not putting yourself deliberately in long term danger and basically saying "the other guy has proved he's better tonight." Props to Morales.
