Floyd Mayweather: "Oscar De La Hoya Will Never Be A Legend Like Me"

After his dominating win over Carlos Baldomir to capture the WBC welterweight title, Floyd Mayweather Jr. took shots at the legacy of Oscar De La Hoya. Mayweather told the media in Las Vegas, that he is planning to retire after his next fight, and will go forward with his plans even if De La Hoya is not the final opponent. He attacked De La Hoya for his performance against Bernard Hopkins in 2004, claiming that after Hopkins knocked him down from a bodyshot, De La Hoya refused to get back. [details]

Uh, Oscar has been in with more talent than Mayweather has and came out pretty decent.

Out of Mayweathers whole career, he's only had the nerve to fightt one fighter with fast hands and now he's gonna retire lol..That **** doesnt sound right.

I'm not sure what it is but it's one of 2 things....

1.) Either this board has the highest percentage of Floyd Mayweather nut-huggers ever

2.) Or it has the highest percentage of Oscar haters ever

It's one or the other. I can't see how a rational, intelligent boxing fan could believe that Mayweather is "more of a legend" that De La Hoya. Just look at the people De La Hoya fought and then look at the people Mayweather fought.

Look at the amount of PPV buys for Oscar's fights, then look at the amount for Floyd's fights.....there's a dropoff here folks.....

Floyd is just lashing out. When the guy gets mad he says some insanely ****** things. Actually, he says insanely ****** things as a general rule. He's mad the fight isn't happening, so he's trying to goad Oscar into a fight by cutting on him.

I'm just amazed that people actually agree with him. The blind Floyd love here is laughable sometimes. Floyd will need to fight the top level of compeitition over the next 4 years (the Margaritos, Hattons, Williams, etc.) to be in Oscar's league.
