Comments Thread For: Breland: Wilder's Career Is Over, He Doesn't Train - I'd Beat Fighters On His Resume!

Former world champion and 1984 Olympics gold medalist Mark Breland has come out swinging against his former understudy Deontay Wilder. Breland was Wilder's career-long co-trainer along with Jay Deas, but after the former WBC champion dropped his first career defeat to the hands of Tyson Fury last February, the "Bronze Bomber" decided to contentiously split from Breland, billing his coach, among other things, as disloyal for throwing in the towel as the Brit was bullying him the entire night with a vicious barrage.

    Haha what a rat.

Reminds me of the Kovalev and JDJ drama.

Maybe just a hint of bitterness there?

I don’t think Breland was the best trainer for wilder nor do I think Dees is either. Wilder isn’t the most intelligent fighter I have watched and I’m not surprised of his meltdown. He will go down as one of the hardest punchers the division has ever seen, made a fair number of defences and will be seen as the 2nd or 3rd best of this era but I think this era of heavyweights is a forgettable one. Not even on the level of the “champions for a day” era of the early 80s

How is that a rat? Wilder threw his name under the bus way before now. I'm surprised Breland didn't speak up sooner...

He should pat the hand that stuck the knife in his back?

Wilder is lucky Breland isn't suing him for reputational damage.

Breland is a technical boxer, wilder would have been better off training under Freddie Roach.

While some may consider this classless, fook it. Breland had his name tarnished by Wikder just because Wilder can’t accept defeat. Breland has been in his corner for years and wilder went off the deep end by accusing him of spiking his water. It’s one thing to say you think you need a better trainer but to accuse him of sabotaging you is pathetic.

The fact that he trained Wilder instantly creates a negative impression. What the hell was he teaching him?

Custer: “There’s been a lot of internet war and rumors regarding your involvement with Team Wilder...I mean it’s really nuts...I don’t even know where to start with this interview....”

Breland: “hold up hold up... first let me just say, for the record, that never in my life have I ever seen a Heavyweight ditch a speedbag drill or heavy bag for a 20 min warm up for this voodoo looking thing they call “twerk session”...naked...with a Yoga trainer filming it for some YouTube superchat El Dee Bee See something...”

                    Custer: “uhhhh...”
