GGG drops his mandatory 5 times and hardly gets hit. BOXING SCENE GOES "GGG LOOKED LIKE TRASH. THAT WAS A TERRIBLE PERFORMANCE."

Four times...and...pretty much. I see room for improvement in certain areas but this is the best Golovkin has looked overall since 2017, possibly before then.

I give Golovkin & Banks credit for understanding something that Roger Federer and his team appreciate, that other great athletes and artists do as well, namely: If you try to recapture your greatness by precisely mimicking your younger self you will fail, but if you seek areas in which you can better yourself you may well continue to make progress and stay at a very high level while slowly changing how that greatness is achieved.

His body fat percent is lower. He’s getting older, it’s harder to make 160 so now he needs to be leaner than ever.

His bodyfat % was lower than ever, and he was carrying more LBM than ever before--while still making weight for the MW division. IMPRESSIVE.

you’re right that Ggg isn’t an all time great but what you’re not mentioning is that he was heavily avoided during his prime. Sturm wanted no parts of him when he was wba champion, Sergio Martinez promotor is on record saying he’s keep Sergio away from ggg, ggg was cottos mandatory and he instead chose geale as a voluntary and paid ggg off so he could fight canelo. Then ggg became canelos mandatory who chose khan as a voluntary and then dropped his belt instead of face ggg. This isn’t even mentioning how Eubank jr and Froch backed out of negotiations with ggg.

As far as being great, the potential was there as at 35 and 36 yrs old, canelo at 27 and 28 was not able to get a clear win vs ggg and at best deserved to be 1-1, or possibly 0-2 in the eyes of many. I don’t recall any top p4p fighter in their prime struggling that much with a guy in their late 30s outside of Trinidad vs Hopkins.

GGG at 35+ did much better than many young guys did vs Canelo, starting with Mundo Smith.

TBH GGG beat Nelo in their first fight IMO, I think Canelo kinda took it as a loss and learned from it.

He's better now.

I thought Canelo won the rematch or at least I'm ok with it.

Nelo is gonna be hard to beat now, he's at the right weight and in his best years.

Floyd beat him at 152 when he was 23 IE at the right time.

Can't say it was a brilliant performance from GGG he looked strong but a little slow obviously the power is still there. Did what he had to do against a mandatory challenger. 39 years old in April i really would love to see the unification fight against Andrade next!
