Comments Thread For: Golovkin On Boxing Exhibitions: Depends On Demand, But I Would Be Open To Opportunity Like That

Gennadiy Golovkin has spent much of his 14-year pro career known as a no-nonsense fighter. While there still remains plenty more to accomplish in his view, there exists the possibility of having a little bit of fun perhaps down the road. Kazakhstan's Golovkin isn't quite as dismissive as other boxing purists on the recent trend of YouTube boxing events and legends coming out of retirement for exhibition matches. In the past 13 months, boxing has been subject to three fights involving YouTube personalities as well as the celebrated Legends Only League launch with Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. in an eight-round exhibition match this past November.

Golovkin has really changed. The persona, the fire in the belly seem totally gone. Only the retired or desperate for money ex-fighter do I hear talk this way about exhibitions with youtubers. We are not even talking about cross-sport fights here. This guy doesn't seem to fancy any more serious challenges and this is coming from a GGG big drama show fan before.

This is the same guy who talked about respect for boxing. Same guy who walked out of the ring w/out giving an interview after his loss to Canelo. Same guy who said anyone from 154-168 could get it but he only fought at 160 his entire career. Same guy who told anyone that would listen that he had true Mexican style til Canelo beat it out of him and he doesn’t mention mexican style ever again. That same guy

345-5 amateur record, silver Olympic medal, 6 world amateur championships, 40-1 as a pro only loss a controversial one to Canelo...
You casuals that don’t box need to keep his name out of your mouthes.
Embarrassing as hell. Stop pocket watching other men.

Move on man. Quit living in the past. He's 38, not 28. We change. Our feelings towards things change. Who cares? Do you post the same message in every Golovkin thread? Since you Brought up Canelo, he's openly admitted he doesn't even want to be fighting by the time he's 36. Let life take its course. When you grow up you'll understand.

You can give ggg a pass if you want. The greats dare to be great. Unfortunately ggg did not as he made a career of fighting bums and mandatories. He also professed to the media his respect for boxing over and over again. Now Ggg is turning into a sideshow.

Every single boxer boxing right now would be open to an exhibition after they retire that makes them millions. The only idiots that complain are dumbass fans that think "this hurts boxing". Lol how?
