Canelo is a top pfp fighter on virtually anyone's list. Destroying a guy like that, I mean it rarely happens in boxing.

Like I said, if the roles were reversed, I think many of y'all would say GGG lost 10-2 in those fights lol...I think that says it all.

That's not a fact though lol...all I can say, is if those fights were reversed, I would have scored them 8-4 against GGG...his activity just gave him both fights vs Canelo...Jacobs was a bit more competitive round by round, but GGG still had about 5 rounds he won clean, plus a KD.

I feel like if the roles were reversed...many many people on here who say they were close, would say GGG got beaten clearly...think that says it all
The thing is there are fighters that are able to beat elite fighters one sided...we've seen it. Golovkin is not one of them. That is the basis of the argument, I think you've more or less agreed with that anyway.

GGG is a great fighter but he was being touted as p4p 1 pre-brook, he was never on that sort of level, def a p4p guy but a top guy on that list for me is someone who either has a bunch of great wins at one weight or several weights over a good period of time and some oustanding performances. Does GGG have that? I dont think so. He has maybe the first point, some great wins at one weight, but his performances were consistently patchy, and all those fights were rough for him. Jacob's and Derv are very good, but not great fighters I would say. Golovkin doesnt really have a signature KO against a top level operator either, which is surprising considering his reputation.

Not trying to be overly critical but you've got to take the full picture. Great fighter, sure fire hall of famer, but at championship level he won and lost. He only excelled against 3rd tier fighters

I mean, a simple perusing through the history of boxing tells the same story - when a great fighter fights another great fighter (in their primes, at their best/good weights) it is often a very close or competitive fight - OR - the fighter who does win dominantly, often has performances that go the other way in other fights against other greats, even often times slipping up against 'not so great' fighters.

Perhaps the best/most recent examples of this are the four horsemen of the 80s. Duran beats Leonard, and overperforms in a close fight against the bigger Hagler, and also gets KTFO against Hearns, and loses to Leonard in the rematch. Something like 1-1-2 for his record there.

Hearns KTFO Duran, had 2 tight fights with SRL, and then had the classic with Hagler where he got KTFO. Something like 1-2-1 for him.

Hagler KTFO of Hearns, essentially fought Duran to a draw, and got shown up by an old, moving up in weight SRL. 1-1-1 for him.

SRL got beat by Duran, then came back to beat him, had a classic win vs Hagler, and then 2 close fights with Hearns. 2-2-1 for him.

Most greats, against other greats, have about a .500 winning percentage. 1-1-1 or something like that, as most good/great boxers only maybe have 2 or 3 fights against truly great competition.

An aging GGG fought a prime Canelo twice, and many saw GGG win both. Could definitely argue he is 2-0-0 compared to those other records.

His closest fight and only real debatable one imo was vs Sergei, who is a very solid pro who fights everyone tough. Most guys, Hagler and Hearns included, have blights on their record at their best weight(s)/in their primes against not-so-great opposition. GGG to his credit doesn't have any blights like that.

His running through good pros so decisively should get more credit. But people are very tribal so it is what it is. But a look at any other similar fighter shows that dominating 10+ good pros is not easy to do. Often times you have a slip up/bad matchup/are a bit exposed. To his credit, never really happened to GGG.

To compare to today's guys, ask Callum Smith (Ryder), Jermell (Tony Harrison), Jermall (Korobov), Loma (Linares and Campbell) etc etc etc how easy it is to dominate every time against a good prime pro.

Study some history bro. It's all there.
