Roberto Duran is the most overrated fighter in history. I shake my head when I see a list with him in the top 10. How can he be that high when he lost to damn near all of the good fighters he faced. Uh, hello? He won the first fight against Leonard by UD. He's the only one of the 4 to hold a win over Leonard. He was also 71-1 having dominated lightweight for years before that point and would go on to pick up several great wins even past the point he should have retired. Absolute clown post, you dksab

Mayweather was much smarter and managed his career much better. Mayweather was always in top shape and fought at a sensible weight, Duran didn't do this, He was often in poor fighting shape and fighting at weights he was much too small for. But I think Duran was a slightly better fighter at his best than Mayweather was at his best, But Mayweather was always at or near his best while Duran was often poorly trained and fighting in a weight class he was too small for.

He’s the only man to beat a prime Ray Leonard, the greatest LW ever and still manage to beat champs at higher weights even though he didn’t belong there.

Roberto Duran does have better wins, but Floyd Mayweather was unbeaten 'And a champion for over 2 decades'. You cannot fake being a champion for over two decades etc

Mayweather is not above Sugar Ray Leonard, but Duran beat Leonard 'So this is a real tough one'.

Duran but that's not a knock on Mayweather at all. Mayweather is the best of his era, certainly one of the absolute greatest of all time ... but Duran is just a bit greater than Mayweather

Lets run it.

Duran's win over Leonard is better than any win on Mayweather's resume. He also fought better fighters (Hearns, Hagler) But as far as overall careers go, Duran quit in the rematch with Leonard. That's unforgivable when rating a boxing career .That alone makes him fall behind Mayweather on my all time list.
