Taylor won that fight , the far cleaner punching , better combinations and more technical skill...Persoon came rushing arms blazing everywhere and crude in my opinion....yeah she has had a higher work rate but it was untidy and rough.
She takes a good that Belgian woman I’ll give her that

I think she was in that ring, she felt and saw what was going on, and she was comfortable with the fact that she simply wasn't as effective this time around. It happens - and she even said that the weight felt off this time.

I thought there were many rounds that were tough to score, but even though I was pulling for Persoon, I do feel that KT deserved to win a clean decision based on much cleaner punching. Persoon worked hard and did have some success but KT was sharper and and slipped punches a lot better this time. Persoon is a fair minded person and she knew she didn’t do enough this time. Credit to both women for another great effort.

1. - “Nationalist biases.”
I don’t recall saying that I was Irish.
2. - “preconceived narrative”
So to put it simply, I have a preconceived narrative and but you couldn’t possibly..
3. - “very hard to score fights....”
..well you could just count the punches that actually land for both fighters and do so fairly for every round, then you’ll perhaps find it not so hard to score.
Hope this helps.

Originally posted by Squared.Circle View PostI agree. A lot of the punches hit fresh air, gloves, forearms and elbows. However, effective aggression is scoring criteria, and the fact that Persoon's aggression did nullify Taylor on quite a few occasions is what gave Persoon an extra couple of rounds. Let's not get carried away, it wasn't Mayweather vs. De La Hoya lol but she definitely defended enough to win. I had it 96–94 to Taylor and I think the 98–92 score was pathetic.
On another note, I rate Taylor but she’s gonna get sparked out one day and I’ve been saying this since her 5th fight. You may have seen the flaws

The main problem with Taylor is that she jumps in face first with her flurries and then relies on her head movement and footwork to get her out (which usually works more often than not), and it leaves her too open. She also seems to be having some issues with stamina too; she looked gassed by the fifth round. You could hear her breathing heavily and almost gasping for breath in between rounds while Persoon, considering her work rate, could control her breathing a lot easier.
I still think Taylor beats Serrano in much more convincing fashion though. Styles make fights, and Serrano doesn't have the physical advantages that Persoon had.
