What happened to the American HW's?

It seems we are all out of talent these days. The Euro's hold all the belts in the HW division. Which brings me to my next question.

We have Calvin Brock, Shannon Briggs, Joe Messi (who is trying to regain his status as a HW contender after a 2 year break for medical reasons) and a couple of insignificant others.

Who will be, or has the best chance (out of the USA) at the HW title?

I'm thinking it's either going to be Briggs or Brock.

Briggs stands a good chance of KO Wlad if he can weather an early storm.

Brock, I think, gets to fight Maskaev now. Brock could also win this fight on points.

He does not bleed Red, White and Blue. He is a citizen but not a born and raised American. I'm glad he chose to get a citizenship but you know his heart is with Russia just as mine would be with the US if I lived and fought in Russia.

I think with boxing having a down period the HW division doesn't seem to have alot of the great athlete's it used to have, mostly from athletic youth choosing sports that are more in the "public eye". I do think the American HW picture will improve hopefully not to long from now.

He might have not been born here but he has lived here for many years and he went through the long process of becoming an American citizen thus making him an American.

I'm saying his heart is with Russia. Americans didn't say anything about his citizenship until now which is arrogant and shallow.

I don't think it's arrogant nor shallow, I think that it's the truth coming out when it needs too. With all the people talking about no more Americans holding HW titles and Maskaev is indeed American.

Does it really matter where the champs are from? So long as the best fighters in the divisions hold them, I don't care if they were born out of a monkey's ass hole on the moon.

I think the Nationality is a big part of the sport. It's all part of the competitiveness of it. Look at the Olympics. It's all about what country wins the gold. I like to say that the Americans put out better fighters and have good debates over it. Now I don't have a leg to stand on. But it's all in good fun. I'm glad Maskaev won because I don't like Rahman too much. I agree with the best man having the title but in the same breath I'm hoping it's somebody from my country. Gives me that much more to cheer for.
