Oh I don't know. He 'managed' it himself for a bit... out of his lounge. And he let his mates pick fights for him too sometimes... usually with just a coupla weeks notice. I've read a coupla real good interviews where he talks about it. But I wouldn't say it wasn't managed at all.

Damn shame though. There's a guy could have been a champ for sure with a decent promoter and well paced matchmaking. Khomitsky too FWIW... very nearly was actually, kinda got screwed against... umm Steiglitz I think it was. And could arguably have got the D or even a win against Murray at least once.

I have always liked watching those guys, they gave me some really good fights.

Gatti, Ward, Bam Bam Rios, Oosthuzien, Alvarado, JSK was a great call out.

One of the reasons we ( we being purists) hate casuals so much is because they are the type of people to ignore anyone who isn't a name, or a champion.

Its like saying you like basketball but only watch the finals. You'd be missing a lot of good ball. If you only watch major PPVs and only care about 1 or 2 guys, you are missing ALOT of boxing.

That's also probably why the average casual never learns anything. They never care enough to soak enough in.

This ^. Absolutely. I really can't understand how folk can be so completely dismissive of anything that ain't a AAA match-up cos there's great fights at all levels all the time. Dramas playing out in the ring day in day out and dudes leaving it all on the line. Then you get these same folk literally calling top 10 fighters 'bums' and the like.

That said I don't 'hate' casuals, cos we all got a right to enjoy the sport as we please, but damn are some of 'em strident with their opinions given how small a part of the sport they follow.

Anyhow we have strayed off the subject.

Many names quoted in the thread can't possibly labeled as "journeymen".

Does Collazo count? Maybe it'd be a bit harsh to call him a journeyman per se but he was (is?) a great gatekeeper, will forever laugh at him smashing up Victor Ortiz. Second whoever suggested Khomistsky as well, always found out the overrated young Brit upstarts they put him up against. Demarcus Corley too, last time I checked he was still fighting and still managing to score a good few upsets.

Deontay Wilder is a fun mid level fighter. Gary O Sullivan is a good guage as well.

Yeah the bar's been set waaay too high honestly. Journeymen are really your dudes like Kristian Laight who fight week in week out but are in effect paid to come along and lose obviously without taking enough damge to stop 'em fighting next week, and without embarrassing the dude they're in with.

I know common usage on here doesn't mean those kinda dudes, but honestly anyone who's ever been a champion has to be ruled out in my book, even most contenders unless they've fallen a long way.
