The Canelo Alvarez-Billy Joe Saunders fight would've been announced already if not for the turmoil the coronavirus has caused throughout the sports world. Organizers had planned to officially announce this week that Alvarez would challenge Saunders for his WBO super middleweight championship May 2 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Golden Boy Promotions, which represents Alvarez, and Matchroom Boxing, Saunders' promoter, also had planned to hold a press conference Tuesday, March 17 in Los Angeles to start spreading the word about Alvarez-Saunders.

They're gonna push it back. There's been zero promo for this fight, no formal announcement & we're halfway thru March.

Something was odd about this fight all together. They took a longer than usual time to settle on an opponent. One would think they would have announced it right after the Fury Wilder rematch while boxing was still the hot topic trending around the world.
