This was always a super satisfying looking KO that turns into bs.
Jacobs crumbles to the floor like he was shot. Then the second Byrd waves it off, he snaps back up looking perfect. Obviously protesting but my question to him is why the hell did he give Byrd that look as though he was dead if he was so mad after he waved it off? He should have shown more life while on the ground than looking completely flatten and then trying rising like nothing happened.
With that said, Pirog was already 30yrs old in that fight and Jacobs was only 23. Pirog was already up there so when you think of Charlos now, Pirog would probably be close if not already 40yrs old by the time he faced a Charlo that has proved his worth.
Someone mentioned farming earlier in the thread. I think they may have been thinking of former heavyweight champion Sultan Ibragimov, who has a small holding and has been living comfortably ever since he retired in 2008. I miss Ibragimov. I was shocked at how much fun he was to watch before the Mayweathers got in his corner.
That's one of my most rewatched fights. His head movement and defense were so impressive against Jacobs. Basically a less offensive version of what Canelo did. And he knocked him out clean
same. for a few reasons i suppose.
1. that fight was WEIRD as. like a high level chess match on pirogs part.
2. pirogs style and swagger was awesome.
3. i miss pirog, we dont have many fights to watch of him.
would have loved to see pirog beat ggg and an alternate reality of what the mw division would have been if he didnt get injured.
EDIT: i will say also that he would have been great for the sport and in particular for russian/eastern european boxing. my biggest complaint with a lot of those eastern-euros is they are robotic and have too much of a 'tough man' mentality where they want to land bombs and walk into bombs. it is entertaining to see knock outs but that bully style of fighting gets old after a while and it is very limiting, because when you come up against a good defensive boxer like ward/mayweather for example or an even bigger bully, you fall to pieces.

Whenever I read your posts I'm always anticipating those funny trolly comments to come through.
Slightly disappointed you came through with the real talk for once

a lot of the time i used to troll as a coping mechanism. id see the dumbest posts of all time that would hurt my head, and so id just say the dumbest crap, sorta like, 'fucc it, no-one else takes anything seriously so why should i?'.
i do like a good joke every now and then, depending on the thread, but i also like to discuss boxing and boxers. i try not to make fun of boxers, even the 'not-so-good' ones because they are professional athletes. if someone comes at me disrespectfully though i will unleash.
