Comments Thread For: Kell Brook: I'd Be 100% in Errol Spence Rematch - I'd Beat Him

Former world champion Kell Brook is still haunted by his knockout loss at the hands of Errol Spence, who holds the IBF, WBC welterweight titles. Brook, who at the time held the IBF strap at 147-pounds, was making a mandatory defense against Spence in May of 2017 in Sheffield.

To be honest I had him 2 rounds up at the half way point. But from 7 onwards he visibly slowed and was on the wrong end of some heavy leather, credit to Spence.

It's just mad that he even took the fight in the first place instead of moving up after competing at 160lb. He turned pro at 147 as a kid so to make the same weight in his early 30's against a killer in Spence after the GGG fight was a terrible idea.

I remember an interview where he had take the weight off on the morning of the Porter fight a good 5 years ago.

So I see where's he coming from it's not just sour g****s and a rematch at 154 would obviously be high risk but if he can his sharpness in the 2nd half of the fight be very competitive.

If the accident hasn't compromised Spence in a significant way, it's just really hard for me to see, at 147 again or north. Brook has enough good will in the bank with me that I can look past an iffy statement like this though.

Im British but one of the US writers mentioned that Brook could have had a title shot at JrMd if he really wanted over the last few years.

He has one world-class win, over Porter. Look who's had the better career since. (I know he got stabbed but the three guys he defended against were pretty bad.)

Also, calling out a guy who might not be the same seems a little bit cheap to me.

Kind of like Spence hounding Thurman while he was injured?
Agree with everything else though, Brook could have been a potential hall of famer, definitely a British great! If only he’d fought better opposition or tried to unify

I also think that, while it was gutsy to go up for GGG, that after losing he should have just gone to JrMd. He could have just said WW was too difficult to return to after going up to MW and he would have avoided Spence. Or at least fought him at a more comfortable JM limit, if he ever had too.

No one would have criticized him for this.

He just seems to be milking things until a Khan fight happens. Which hopefully draws flies.

I don't remember the Thurman thing...but then, yes. Also is the guy who is hanging with Errol at the top of this page a boxer? I thought for a moment it was Zab Judah.

Fair play for spence getting the stoppage but i remember a lot of people panicking during the RBR up till round 7. I had brook comfortably up, doesnt mean anything as he lost but he did seem to slow down very quick, i thought he did well enough for a rematch, lets face it who else is spence gonna fight?

Win a belt at 154, then 'I think this fight happens'.
