Comments Thread For: Rigondeaux: We're Going Monster-Hunting; Want Inoue Next

ALLENTOWN, Pennsylvania Now that Guillermo Rigondeaux has established himself within the bantamweight division, the Cuban veteran has his sights set on the best 118-pound boxer in the sport. The 39-year-old Rigondeaux revealed late Saturday night that he wants to fight Japanese star Naoya Inoue next. Inoue already has a title unification fight against Johnriel Casimero set for April 25 in Las Vegas, but Rigondeaux hopes he can challenge Inoue for 118-pound supremacy later this year.

Rigo's handlers should really push for this fight.

21-gun salute for this old warrior's final glorious battle.

He's likely right, Arum would block any Inoue fight with Rigo. Arum's feelings about Rigo's marketability won't have changed after seeing the boos at his recent fight, and its unlikely he would support any fight with Rigo. The Haymon link doesn't help either.

Hope he wants the fight. He may get more than he bargained for too. The monster is fast and hits really hard.

I would dearly love to see this fight. Doesn’t look very likely, since Arum thinks Rigo’s appeal is shit (which it is with most boxing fans); but Inoue might push for it, since it would be a major feather in his cap. Have to favor the young lion in this one, should it ever materialize, but I can’t count Rigo out. The old master might just have one more good fight left in him.

Man Inoye has so many options. Casimero, Ouballi, Doniare again. Rigo, Vargas, Navarrette at 122. Nery( the fight we all want), plus Estrada moving up from 115. If he took all those and won all those Pound for pound without any questions.
