Ward had some of the better jabs in boxing with his variety like the up jab. He consistently used it often set up combos...I haven’t even talked about the fact that Ward can switch stances, he was just far to versatile for Artur and on top of the fact that his foot and hand speed were much higher
Most of those attributes were at 168. He still had advantages in hand and foot speed but at 175 they weren't as apparent. Beterbiev can get countered but Ward is giving up enough of a reach disadvantage where he won't be able to counter as easily as someone like Gvozdyk.

        Who would win?
... this is the fights I wanted since Beterbiev dispatched Cloud, back in 2014...

... but, of course, Ward is/was too intelligent to even consider such a fight...

          This.

If Ward is this elite level p4p boxer, why could he never win a fight without fouls and illegal tactics?

The reason is obvious, because his entire gameplan revloved around excessive clinching, fouls & lets be honest, illegal tactics

Even IF this fantasy fight was in Oakland.. i find it extremely unlikely he could bully beterbiev on the inside, beterbiev is stronger, far more powerfull and is actually FAR better on the inside than Ward, who does nothing but lunge in like a billygoat after throwing a potshot single jab.

Ive said it a 100 times and ill say it again, Ward is one of the most overrated boxers in the last decade

3/4 of his best wins has a massive asterisk next to it.

          Kessler *
          Kovalev *
          Kovalev 2*

whats left on his resume? a win over carl froch? credit where credit is due, while a good win, outboxing Carl Froch is hardly amazing is it?
          The corpse of Chad Dawson?

Ward 114-113 gets KD once late, maybe 115-112 or even 116-111

Ward was a true phenomenon: he injured his right shoulder when he was like 12 of age... ever since, he practically fought one-handed, in an inverted southpaw stance...
