It is where the weight is disturbed.

Why do you think hammers are designed like they are?

And that extra rigidness makes a huge difference.

Throw a punch with a relaxed hand and tense hand, same swing but a very different power output.

those pins are titanium and they're in the hand of a man well over 200 lbs. they probably weigh a few grams.

        let me guess
wilder didn't hit hard, according to you, until he started breaking chronically and having it repaired with surgery.
No one said they were the****utic. We are talking about the increase damage they do.

They have running blades that make people able run faster than if they had their legs.

The debate in this one is PINS and RODS. Is weird that a professional Boxer can hit so devastatingly hard with 1 hand that has metal in it but his other hand hits as hard as a little girl.

              tard alert.

these are RODS. read the article. where did you dream up pins from?

Why do they have 12 oz AM gloves and 10 oz pro gloves? IT"S ONLY 2 OUNCES!

              Yes it makes a difference.

At the highest level of fighting with that type of power even a little bit of weight makes a huge difference. Period.

The metal components don't just make his first heavier. They make his first HARDER. This is irrefutable. They also make them less prone to break. MEANING he can throw with wreckless abandon without as much worry about breaking them. This is not a natural advantage.

Typical Barrett response. Ignorance and naivete at it's finest. Get off your lazy british arse and do some research. Malignaggi had similar surgeries!

Renowned boxing hand specialist Dr. Steven Margles operated on Paulie at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Massachusetts.

“I was able to stabilize with minimally evasive treatment,” Dr. Margles explained. It was well stabilized with two pins for a slightly displaced fracture that was manipulated into a satisfied position. Paulie will be in a cast for six weeks.”

Rods? Lol, look more like paper clips. The only thing irrefutable is that someone took too many " HeadShots".

U got a link to an article with details? Anyone know which metacarpal he broke even? My brother broke a metacarpal beating a guy. The doctors said he had really dense bones. He drinks a ton of milk. He can legit punch. They put a “plate” in his hand screwed into the halves of each bone to get them to set straight. When u say “Rod” what shape design does that mean to you? Can’t actually be a cylindrical dowling? How does a rod work for a broken bone if it’s not screwed/pinned into the bone? U can replace the bone with a rod. I agree that any foreign item in the body in unnatural. But I don’t understand how u say “where’d u dream up pins?”. How does a piece of metal work without pins?! If there’s pins/screws going through the bone this makes the original bone weaker. There’s less bone now. Easier to break at the thinner areas over and under the screws. Usually u get the plate and screws removed. My brother never did. A doctor did say that if the bone and calcium form over the plate and screws after enough time, and u end up with even more bone, it could be stronger. But if Wilder broke it again and not another bone then maybe it isn’t stronger than it was? These things are also usually made with titanium. I bet there’s one 20th of the weight in his hand compared to a titanium watch. And they weigh nothing.
