I’m surprised how many boxing fans (or supposed boxing fans) pretend to say Joshua ran. Alternative agenda is clear case here because anyone who watched the fight can see he boxed well and engaged at times.
Boxing stats support that:
Joshua 373-261 Ruiz (107/60 landed)
Fury Klitschko as a comparison:
Fury 371-231 Klitschko (86/52 landed)
Joshua basically landed an extra 20% despite similar styles. Joshua’s game plan was actually more engaging than even those stats appear as his tactic was often to tie his opponent up once he had engaged successfully (or not) to reduce the impact of Ruiz’s fast hands but obviously meaning he never got many combination punches going.
More importantly than either of those being compared though we got to see something different from Joshua I think the majority of us didn’t think he had in him. That extra dimension or option to his assets could be invaluable in the big fights?
