Comments Thread For: Callum Smith: Pressure is On Hearn To Deliver Biggest Fight Possible

Having taken so long to become a world champion Callum Smith (26-0, 19 KOs) has very convincing reasons why he won't allow complacency to trip him up when he fights John Ryder on Saturday night. Smith, the WBA Super Middleweight champion, will make the second defence of his title in his home city of Liverpool against his mandatory challenger knowing that he is a heavy favourite to retain his championship against one of the division's in-form fighters who made the move from middleweight to super middle over eighteen months ago.

No wonder Hearn is begging Canelo to fight one of his fighters again lol he is been cashing in on Canelo because none of his fighters around that weight are worth a dämn and they all are demanding Hearn to get them that fight lol

Smith against any of plant, benevidez or saunders would be a decent fight. Realistically the only one Hearns can guarantee to delivery is Billy hoe; and Gallagher doesn't seem to want that?

Smith is a champ bc his tournament bracket was horribly weak & lead to taking out a much smaller & shot Groves coming off of surgery. He's a good textbook fighter but don't believe his handlers are totally confident in putting him in with any of those top guys. Personally, I think Plant & Saunders outbox him & Benavidez destroys him. Ain't looking for big fights if you're only willing to fight in the UK.

didnt he recently re-sign with hearn? seems like a minor version of the canelo-gbp situation where a guy is making it known he's unhappy but still staying put

Smith vs Plant would be a good fight. Different networks though.

... Callum Smith: Pressure is On Hearn To Deliver Biggest Fight Possible

... no way: the pressure is on Callum Smith, tbh... he's 6′ 3″ in height and he's 78″ in reach... but he fights at 168... He should campaign at 175 instead...
