I dunno if I can quite agree with Morales' claims. It can probably be argued that once top tier fighters have fought Canelo, they were never the same anymore. After GGG fought Canelo, he went from an undefeated jauginnaut to now a questionable has been. The same thing with Daniel Jacobs. He went from being a very hot fighter to one's whose career is now at the crossroads. While it can be said that Canelo is cherry picking opponents, who hasn't. It makes perfectly good sense for him to pick Kovalev. Kovalev is a fairly known boxer, he'll make Canelo a lot of money, and the fight as one sided as it might be, is still an interesting fight. I can see Canelo holding off on stepping in the ring with the likes of a Charlo brother or Andrade at this stage. Why face a young prime lion when folks outside of boxing's hardcore fan base don't know who they are. The money is in the crossover. If Canelo ducks them over the next two years, then perhaps Morales has a point. But for now, I think the fellow Mexican is just hating.

Canelo's resume chits all over GGG's. Hes fought GGG twice. People are complaining he is not fighting him a 3rd time. Been there done that, yes he is catching Kov before he retires... and? Was he supposed to fight him 5 years ago when he was at 154?Comment

GGG had the whole year free, he could have fought Charlo or Andande but fought nobody Rolls and 33 year old 14 fight Derevyanchenko.
Canelo took atleast 3 fights off the top of my head that were high risk low reward that he could have ducked: Jacobs, Lara and Trout. He could have avoided those guys and not gotten much flack for it, but instead fought them. All 3 of those guys nobody ever looks good against, their losses are always close fights. Canelo gets close wins and people just *****ed.
If Canelo fought Steve rolls this spring, people would have lost their ***ing minds. GGG got a pass.
Rocky Fielding was garbage but that was a bonus fight. He took it 3 months after GGG 2. Fought Sept, December, and May. He could have taken no fight at all in December. Shows GGG didnt even hurt him in their 2nd fight that he could fight again so soon.Comment
