Comments Thread For: Beterbiev: Right Now, Gvozdyk is Only One I Need To Worry About

Artur Beterbiev means it when he insists that all of his attention and focus is squarely placed on his own task at hand. The two-time Russian Olympian and reigning light heavyweight titlist remains locked in for his unification bout with World (lineal) 175-pound champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk. The pair of unbeaten title claimants collide live on ESPN this Friday from the Liacouras Center on Temple University campus in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Bivol's last performance has no bearing on who he fights next. DAZN is a streaming service, they just want good matchups to get subs. How many tickets someone sells in a tuneup, or how popular that tuneup made them, is no longer that relevant. Bivol vs the top light heavyweights is a big fight that will have boxing fans excited. It would be one of the biggest fights DAZN has ever put on. They are paying Andrade and Farmer a lot of money to fight poor opposition in boring fights. Bivol having one less than scintilating performance means nothing.

I wonder if Jake Donavan is consistent, and if he talks about Andrade like he talks about Bivol. Bivol is a lot more aggressive and explosive in his fights than Andrade. You have more highlight reel punches in Bivol's fights vs Barrera and Pascal than all of Andrade's career. I don't know why Jake is singling out Bivol....

Anyway, he just needs better opposition. Bring on Kovalev, Canelo, Gvozdyk, Beterbiev, Zurdo, Callum Smith, and Buatsi.

Your opposition list, Bivol would struggle hugely and most probably lose to all except Kovalev..

When the fight was announced, I was like.. this is a 50/50 fight. But the closer we get to it, the more I'm like.. Beterbiev will crush Gvozdky! Maybe even early..

I also doubt it's a 50/50 fight, but the other way around. Gvozdyk will outclass Beterbiev badly. Puncher's chance for Beter though. Anyway should be fun.

              It’s Beterbiev time
              Won’t last six
              Artur will maul him
Gvozdyk will be like a dear in headlights

Good to see these two not resorting to much if any trash talk. Should be a good solid fight. Leaning Gvozdyk, but really, it's a 50/50 affair IMO.

Ahh at last the fight we’ve been waiting for!

Not that Usyk vs Witherspoon or Bivol vs Castillo crap!

Two undefeated champions boxer punchers putting it all on the line to see who’s the best and to put their skills an mettle to the test!

                  Mano e Mano, a real pick’em fight!

It could end at any moment and could have so many momentum swings!

I think Gvozdyk takes it but gets hurt badly and dropped but survives and goes onto to outbox and then takeout Beterbiev in 9 in a tactical war!

Gvozdyk by TKO 9 or 10
