Comments Thread For: Team Butler Weighs Options Against Offered Andrade Title Fight

A title shot awaits Steven Butler-if he and his team decide that's the next best step for his career. As previously reported, the World Boxing Organization (WBO) has assigned Canada's Butler (28-1-1, 24KOs) as the mandatory challenge for unbeaten middleweight titlist Demetrius Andrade (28-0, 17KOs). The bout was formally ordered on Oct. 2, with the two camps instructed to begin

    Next please!!

As a Montrealer, I follow Steven since his very beginning. Yes, this kid is skilled and has power. I'd really like to think he'd have a chance against Andrade.. but it's not the case. They should avoid this fight as much as possible.
Steven needs to learn to keep his hands up. He has a poor defense and never step his game up. Yes, he looks good against B- boxer such as Valenzuela.. but this is it.

The thing that I don't like about Butler and his team is that he never showed any sign of improvement. He lost by KO against Brandon Cook (Who got dominated by Muguina) and never avenge his lost. He lost (But was gifted a SD) against Kopylenko.. and won't give him a rematch (He got KD by a liver shot in the 9th).

Do the maths ; he lost to cook and an unknown but skilled Ukranian.. how could he beat such a technical guy like Andraded?
    NEXT please!! For Butler's sake..

Andrade - Derev-chenko - that's what I want to see expecting GGG's duck from rematch.

if he doesn't want to fight for the title as the mandatory challenger remove him from the rankings and instate the next mandatory.

Fellow Montreal as well and I agree 100%. Camille Estephan usually is not scared to throw his fighters into the "lion's den" but here is the time. Butler would look foolish like Lemieux did vs BJS.

The other belt holders are avoiding Andrade and now his own mandatory might be avoiding him too.

I'm from Montreal too, and I think he should take the money and run. Let's face it, the guy is never gonna be a top guy in any division, so... Take the deal, come out guns blazing and hope for the best! You'll probably lose, or get KOd, but you'll have a decent cash down on a house..
