Claressa Shields makes disgusting comments after attack

“Her name is Ivana ‘No Excuses,’ so hopefully we don’t have none,” Shields said. “I’m quite sure she has another coach who she can fly in. Ain’t nothing happen to her. Something happened to her coach, sadly.”

Wow, real classy to say her opponent is using the assault of her trainer as an excuse.

“Her coach was being real disrespectful, but that still don’t make it alright, whatever happened,” Shields said. “I didn’t tell nobody who was with me to do anything. It wasn’t nobody from my team.”

After her opponents coach gets assaulted, she immediately points to how disrespectful he was... like it matters. Wow what an a$$hole.

And yes it was someone from your team Claressa. Was it someone from Habazin’s team? Was it someone from the media? LMFAO.

I didn’t blame Shields for the attack but the response shows her true colors.

What a terrible role model and POS human.

        LMFAO, who cares???

Claressa Shields said her opponent will use the assault of her trainer as an excuse to avoid the fight and claimed it wasn’t someone from her entourage when it clearly was.

        She’s a terrible human being.

This thread is about Shields’ comments afterwards, which are clearly awful and show she’s a terrible human being.

I see it like this. Claressa tried to defuse the situation between Bashir and her sister. She should not be held accountable for the assault unless it was a member of her team who punched him. If it was a member of her team, then yes she deserves whatever punishment is dished out. She is responsible for her team as she is their employer.

Until we get more clarification on who did it, nobody should blame her.

The fact that her Coach was talking trash means nothing. Anybody who has had a Coach who was a complete nutcase knows that you're not going to be able to control their mouth. My Coach was a nutcase, my friend, my mentor, the only man who took time to really raise me. My Coach would take us to gyms for sparring and disappear. And I knew when he disappeared he was telling all the fighters we would be sparring that they couldn't handle us, that we would walk right through them. That made for some hellish sparring wars that we rarely let him down in. Nobody had the right to lay hands on her trainer. A Boxing Coach is not only your second pair of eyes in the ring but he is also your hype man. Anyone that disrespects him or her gets the lesson taught to them in the ring. That's where this should have been settled but instead the far bigger picture is the time, effort, and money lost due to this fight not taking place now. The price for the promotion, the training camps, the traveling fees, the sanctioning fees, and the fan participation with ticket buys and tv views is all down the drain for both camps. The whole bag is blown and now everyone has to deal with the fallout.
