Comments Thread For: Canelo Motivated To Hold Titles Simultaneously in '3' Divisions

Canelo Alvarez explains that he wants to become the first fighter in 81 years to simultaneously hold world titles in three different weight divisions, in the same manner that Henry Armstrong achieved in 1938. In addition, he could become the second Mexican to get a world championship in the light heavyweight division and the fourth four division world champion in Aztec boxing.

well, that's a lot easier to do when you don't have to defend them.

Sorry, Ginger. That Rocky Fielding 168 Title doesn't count for anything.

Regular belt ain’t no belt. Defend at ‘68 against Bivol and Callum. Defend at ‘60 against G and Andrade. Beat Kov (with rehydration clause) and defend against Gvozdyk/Beterbiev winner at ‘75.

With a win canelo will cement his All Time Great status, and also be in the running for fighter of the year and fighter of the decade!!! All with just one more victory with Kovalev! Critics can kick rocks, history and legacy is what canelo is after. Let’s go Canelo

I'm a fan of Canelo but WBA "regular" belts are trash and don't count.

It's the same reason why Golovkin doesn't hold any record for middleweight title defenses either.

It seems like just yesterday Canelo claimed he wanted to be the first Mexican undisputed champion in boxing history. He said he wanted #allthebelts in 2019, he had 3 of the 4 belts. All he had to do was agree to fight Demetrius Andrade & it would be #undisputed. Then he proceeded to try & successfully get the fight with Kovalev & not Andrade.

Let's all hope that he fails at his attempt. Come on Kovalev.

How can people fall for this gimmick of "three-division" Champion status? Seriously who believes this ****?
