Has anyone else noticed, or is it just me?

I registered and joined this forum community earlier this year, and check in now amd again to catch some news and take in a read from any topic that piques my interest and have even offered up my own thoughts here and there.........

As a fairly avid fight fan of nearly 40yrs, I've enjoyed the sport and the intergration of technology that is commonplace in todays society that enable me to enjoy it more consistently than as in the past and I have no real complaints, but more and more lately its caught my attention that a good portion if not a majority of the thread topics here tend not to be about the sport, its events, its fighters, its nuances, its failures, its triumphs etc....
But rather, about some random happening, statement, or presumptions that, yes they are occurrences within the sport and its environment, but IMHO not truly about the sport. If, and I hope it does make sense to those of you reading.

I try to read through most times to find something with more "substance", but cant stomach the mountains of comment after comment of what strikes me to be some form of adolescent emotional projection with all the denegrating choices of nicknames and back and forths of character bashing of fighters and or networks literally on a grade school level more often than not.

Please anyone correct me if I'm wrong. To me it seems that those types of threads far outnumber threads regarding upcoming matchup intrigues, technical breakdown of fighters, events that actually affect the sport/weight class/sanction body/ history of the sport as a whole, post fight analysis etc....

Or is it just me and I've went on a good minute on a subject that no one knows what I'm talking about?😅

    It's not just you bro.
What you wrote is the reality of Alot of threads on this forum.
I can understand one or two troll threads but threads all day trying to mock a fighters accomplishments just for not being the right colour or the right nationality is childish and not worth reading to be honest.
I try not to get involved with these threads and we all know which ones they are.
Don't let a few racists destroy your pleasure with being involved with this boxing community.
Their are still Alot of good posters to gain knowledge and talk boxing with.

Pacquiao is a top 5 ATG.
The world noticed that, right after he dominated Keith One Loss Thurman.

If you actually meant to post this in this specific thread then you are part of the problem. I think you meant to post in your own pac thread though.

Absolutely agree (not about the black guys comment).

A minority of posters just deluge the board with thread after thread.post after post of just basic attacking worthless biased extreme posts pushing their agenda, if called out on rubbish which is just flat out verifiable wrong or ridiculously biased they justify it by claiming they are righting some perceived slight by someone doing a similar thing from the "other" side.

And they aren't wrong, for every one eyed biased ***** poster there is no doubt someone on the other side doing the same. The problem is in total it just causes a complete sh#t show where reasonable discussion is drowned by this ridiculous rubbish, which causes the tone to be pushed further to the extremes and a downward spiral ensues.

Or maybe it has always been this bad, I lurked for a while before joining but it seems to be reaching a tipping point for me, without some decent moderation can't see ending well.

Before I joined this forum I was a fan of Golovkin and other fighters, including Wilder, which was a "prospect" back then and I liked his raw power. I came here and saw that Golovkin was being hated. And same for other non-black fighters. They were hated for silly reasons.

This also caused a reaction and some non-black posters also hate a bit on black posters, but never as much as the black guys hating on white or euro fighters.

There's racism involved here, xenofobia as well. A bit of hate for european fighters and so on.

The bad behavior is also a general behavior now on Internet. It happened after 2008 in almost all forums I visit. Slowly the hate took over internet. I've seen this on Tennis forums I read too.
TBH that sounds absolutely ridiculous, but in some odd way a plausible explanation when compared to a lot of the garbage I've read.
I'm hesitant to feel relieved that someone could relate to my perception if this is actually a part of the picture thats on the wall.
I was in my mid college years when AOL chat rooms sprouted to help evolve the net of today so I'm not too familiar with the online community/environment TBH.
It's troubling to hear that we seem to be taking massive leaps backwards as a society with technology taking massive leaps forward.

Would be nice if we didnt take the sport backwards a at least. 😒

I appreciate the insight however alarming it may be. Thanks👍

Thanks for the encouragement! Luckily I kinda eased up on reading the forums and just stick to the. News articles/announcements, but felt compelled to post this question after browsing the topics page to find the same genre of fodder.
Again, maybe its just me, but I would find a debate over x boxers style vs x boxer style and their hypothetical implementation in said matchup over profanity laced arguments why x boxer is a coward and why x boxer is sliced bread. LOL

I can totally see what you describe. And it is a very peculiar dynamic that seems escalate in every topic that I've read during my short time here.
And you mentioned moderation which I've heard about moderators in/for forums along with actually "rules" in place regarding "community conduct", so does this site not have something like that? I'm a part of the few that never read fine print or just instant click next/finished to get to where I want to get online. So ya, I ask because I probably missed anything that might have mentioned it when I signed on.😬
