Comments Thread For: Golovkin Is '100-Percent Open' To Fighting Murata In Japan

NEW YORK Gennadiy Golovkin knows a difficult fight awaits him October 5. If Golovkin gets past Sergiy Derevyanchenko, however, he is more than willing to travel to Japan to box Ryota Murata. That would technically be a middleweight title unification bout between Kazakhstan's Golovkin (39-1-1, 35 KOs), who would hold the IBF title, and Japan's Murata (15-2, 12 KOs), who owns the WBA's secondary 160-pound championship.

From the quote, it sounds like Golovkin is planning on Murata next. I've been wanting to see this one for a long time; really excited that it might be happening.

I wonder if they anticipate a big enough crowd to have the fight at Tokyo Dome. Last boxing match there was, I believe, Mike Tyson vs Buster Douglas in 1990.

Your passionate hate of Golovkin cracks me up. As well your passionate love for the Charlos.

Has there ever been a case where you were like, oh, this guy is ok?

Because it seems like you go to the extremes.

That would be absolutely massive in Japan, Murata is a better than everyone Charlo or Andrade has faced.

Neither of those fighters are interesting. They're over hyped and unproven.
