Uh oh, looks like Canelo is leaving Golden Boy.

Oscar's first priority is to Golden Boy and he must protect that contact with DAZN. That's worth more in the long run than he can make from Canelo.

I just posted this in another thread. Take of it as you will.

I think they're trying to blame the IBF. I'd be scared to lose Canelo if I were those guys.

Golden Boy is a pretty small stable. Their only champions outside of Canelo are Munguia and Rey Vargas. Then they have a few ranked contenders. Canelo leaving would be a disaster.

Oscar's first priority is Canelo; Canelo is the reason DAZN is giving them a red cent, Canelo is the reason the company existed after Haymon pulled his guys. If Canelo bails, they're a Main Events-level promoter praying for more Facebook Fight Night dollars.

Not only did GBP not deliver Canelo-GGG III, they delivered no fight at all, AND failed to offer up Mungia to GGG as a replacement, which would have been an acceptable replacement for the date for DAZN per Mannix.

Oscar, you've been a bad bad boy.

Ryan Garcia & Vergil Ortiz (who fights tomorrow btw and GBP aren't talking about it)

Fighters come and go. You need to build for the future. They can't put all their eggs in the Canelo basket

What did the IBF say about Diaz? The only person who said something about Diaz was Canelo. So when they're addressing Diaz they're addressing Canelo.

Oscar's first priority is to do what's best for Golden Boy Promotions. Canelo has a limited window. Golden Boy will still be promoting fights after he's long gone (if Oscar doesn't **** this up) He has other fighters he has to build and develop.
