The aftermath of that vicious Lemieux KO is still the first thing that comes to mind virtually every time I think of Stevens. In all seriousness, is he... alright? Long term? Over the 18 month layoff that followed I genuinely started to wonder whether his mom/other loved ones had talked him into hanging them up. Honestly I wouldn't have blamed him...for all his deficiencies Lemieux does have what could be considered life changing power.

That aside I'm interested to see how he looks at 154, a move I still think he should have tried a long time ago, if not even further south.

IMO a long layoff is probably the smartest thing you can do after a KO like that. Pacquiao recovered well from the Marquez KO so perhaps Stevens will be alright who knows.

I remember that fight. That was one dirty KO. That fight was a rarity between two pure 1-punch KO guys. Both have that quick snappy power that sleeps opponents much like Julian Jackson had.

stevens fought last summer in the dr. there was a video online of the fight where there was a huge brawl right after the decision. unbelievable how stevens started how 175, now at 154. stevens is a 1 trick pony, if he can't land the left hook, he's screwed. surprised he's still with his uncle andre.

                  Curtis

Curtis is a good fighter but I can’t see him climbing past any of the top guys in his weight class.

Yeah, in retrospect especially the outcome to that one, both being who they are, really felt like an inevitability and just a matter of who got there first. The world needs its Stevens' and Lemieuxs to hold that endearing middle ground between the elites and no hopers, damn it, and all the better when they square off against one another in perfectly matched middle class glory. Or something.
