Comments Thread For: Can Guillermo Rigondeaux Finish His Run at 122?

Lineal Jr. featherweight king Guillermo Rigondeaux (18-1, 12 KO) didn't make any new fans when he surrendered in the corner after six rounds against Vasyl Lomachenko last December. His trip to Jr. lightweight was well promoted, drew a nice crowd at the arena, and succeeded in terms of television ratings. In the ring, it was a nightmare for perception of the cerebral Cuban. On his biggest stage in years, what was witnessed was, for many, largely dispassionate with a finish too rational for what is often an irrational endeavor.

This is a nice division, I think Rigo would have issues with any of the he champs right now. He can also win then all too though. I would love to see any combo of nery, Vargas, and Roman fight.

Article says “..if Inoue wins, there is a chance for Inoue to see if he could take his prodigious power up one more division and be the first man to stop Rigondeaux. “

Loma already stopped him. Guess he means first to stop him at 122, but big deal. He’s already been stopped.

Interested to see what Rigo has left.

People should only watch master Rigo as long as they can -- the old Cuban school will soon vanish...

Rigo is 38 now. And as disgusting as his outing versus Loma was, one positive thing came of it: he suffered no damage. In fact, he’s never suffered any damage. The little guy just might have enough left in the tank to beat everyone at 122.

I disagree. He suffered alot of mental damage. He got embarrassed after all that talking he did and quit. If you quit once there is a good chance you won't be the same fighter and you might do it again when things don't go your way.
